DRAWING OF FLAG
The history of the El Salvadorian flag dates back to the early 19th century. In 1839, a blue and white striped flag (5 blue stripes, 4 white stripes) with 9 stars and a red box was adopted as El Salvador’s national flag. The country's people in 1875 decided to add 5 stars onto the flag to make 14 stars in total. It wasn’t until 1912 that the flag design was changed to blue and white horizontal stripes (2 blue, 1 white) with a coat of arms at the flag's center. Which could appear similar to the flag of the Great Republic of Central America. The royal blue color in the flag represents the ocean and sky of Central America.
